ElehpantTalk Project

Elephant Talk Communications, Corp., is a leading international provider of proprietary mobile Software Defined Network Architecture (Software DNA™) platforms for the telecommunications industry and financial services industries, with activities in Europe, the Middle-East, Africa, the Americas and Australasia. 

Client Request:

Complete design and implementation of SQL Server instances and enterprise data warehousing (EDW) systems and processes.

Project Tasks:

  • Designed and implemented EDW for SQL Server 2008 (R2), SQL Server 2012, SSAS, SSRS, & SSIS.

  • Designed and implemented data synchronization between all systems using CDT & SSIS.

  • Designed and implemented automatic data exchange with external systems using CLR, SSRS & SFTP built-in processes.

  • Implemented custom projects for all customers utilizing SQL Server 2008 (R2), SQL Server 2012, & .NET instances.

  • Managed a team of 40 in Chinese & European divisions.

epaCUBE Project

  

epaCUBE is focused on increasing our Customer's Gross Profits by offering powerful software to synchronize item information across the enterprise and identify potential profit opportunities for users at all levels.

 Client Request:

  • Complete revamp of existing data architecture by converting Oracle 9i databases to a SQL Server 2005 and designing and implementing all web services, procedures, functions, and packages.
  • Create custom text search based data matching between disparate data sources.

Project Tasks:

  • Converted Oracle9i databases to SQL Server 2005.
  • Designed and implemented all SQL Server 2005 procedures and functions.

  • Designed and implemented all Oracle 9i & Oracle 10g PL/SQL packages and procedures.
  • Created web services utilized by SQL Server and user applications.
  • Implemented SQL Server Service Broker based system to use as an unsynchronized Scheduler for all epaCUBE jobs.
  • Improved and tuned all epaCUBE stored procedures.
  • Invented and implemented "SmartTextMatch" process to match two data sets by their descriptions.

  • Created the common library infrastructure to usilize TSQL and CLR functionality.
  • Developed the code to utilize the SQL Server Service Broker

  • Created a "SmartText" data matching to match disparate data sets.
  • Utilizing SQL Server Service Broker allowed dynamic management of multi-threaded processes within the database engine.
  • Improved bulk ETL operations by utilizing SSIS.

CSX Project

  

CSX is one of the nation's leading transportation companies, providing rail-based transportation services.

 Client Request:

  • Evaluate BI tools to be used.
  • Automate ETL load processes.
  • Convert Informatica 5.0 to 6.2 PowerCenter.
  • Convert Oracle Express v6 to Hyperion.
  • Later convert Hyperion to MS SSAS.
  • Create automated programs to be used for the development of the Siebel Analytics components.

Project Tasks:

  • Evaluated BI tools by conducting demos, trial installations, and development. Provided results of findings in a final review and recommendations document.
  • Created PL/SQL packages to automate the ETL load processes of dimensions type I, II, & the Facts tables.
  • Implemented new mapplets to be used in Informatica to standardize ETL Informatica mappings.

  • Helped to establish company's standards in Data Warehousing methodology, Siebel Analytics report creation automation, & Informatica ETL programs and workloads.
  • Led upgrade project of nQuire 3.0.3 to Siebel Analytics 7.5.2.

  • Average speed improvements were 200 times or more compared to the original Informatica mappings.
  • Automating programs for Siebel Analytics component development cut down from 30 to 6 days of working time per project per person creating an average savings of $25,000 per project.
